Transverse Humeral Ligament

The transverse humeral ligament is marked on the left above the biceps brachii tendon

Name

  • Transverse Humeral Ligament
  • Brodie Ligament
  • Brodie's ligament

General

  • Small ligament that extends between the lesser and greater tubercles of the humerus
  • Hold the long head of the Biceps Brachii tendon within the bicipital groove
  • Some authors characterize it as an extension of the subscapularis tendon[1]

Function

  • Provides stability and effective functioning of the long head of the biceps brachii
  • Prevents subluxation of the tendon

Clinical Significance

  • Subluxing Biceps Tendon
