- Transversus Thoracis
- Triangularis sterni
- Sternocostalis muscle
General
- Thin flat muscle located on the inner surface of the anterior thoracic wall
- Places a role in forced expiration by depressing the ribs
- Considered one of the accessory muscles of respiration
Origin
- Xiphoid Process (posterior aspect)
- Sternum
Insertion
- Ribs 2-6
Actions
- Expiration (Depresses ribs caudally)
Vascular Supply
- Anterior Intercostal Arteries
