Purpose
- A series of physical exam maneuvers to help evaluate the anterior ankle joint space
Description
- Evaluate the patient for the following:
- 1. Anterolateral ankle joint tenderness to palpation
- 2. Anterolateral ankle joint swelling
- 3. Pain with forced dorsiflexion & eversion
- 4. Pain with single leg squat
- 5. Pain with activity (weight bearing, running, jumping)
- 6. Absence of ankle instability (normal anterior drawer, talar tilt)
- Positive test
- At least 5 of the 6 clinical findings present
