Coracoid Pain Test

Purpose

  • To evaluate the cause of the patients shoulder pain
  • First described by Carbone in 2009[1]

Description

  • Palpate the coracoid process
  • Palpate the acromioclavicular joint
  • Palpate the anterolateral subacromial area
  • Positive test
    • Pain on the coracoid process is more severe than the other two

Pathology


Evidence

Adhesive Capsulitis

  • Carbone et al[1]
    • Sensitivity: 96-99%
    • Specificity: 87-98%
