- Sensory branch of the ulnar nerve which supplies the dorsal hand
- Arises from the medial aspect of the ulnar nerve approximately 8 cm proximal to the pisiform bone
- Passes dorsally beneath the tendon of the flexor carpi ulnaris
- Provides dorsal branches to the small finger, the ulnar aspect of the ring finger, and the ulnar aspect of the carpus and hand
