Purpose
- Evaluate for the cause of back pain in patients with radicular features
Description
- The patient is seated on the examination table, legs hanging off
- They are instructed to keep their back in extension
- The examiner stabilizes the ipsilateral thigh with one hand
- And grasps the heel with the other
- The affected limb is slowly raised, extending the knee
- Positive test
- Pain/ radicular features are reproduced
- The patient leans or "flips" backwards
