Demonstration of the Fukada test[1]
  • Fukada Test
  • Fukuda Shoulder Instability Test

Purpose

Description

  • The patient is seated
  • Examiner places thumb of each hand on scapular spine
  • Fingers then wrap over the front to the humeral head
  • Apply a posteriorly directed force to the anterior aspect of the humerus
  • Compare the affected and unaffected arm
  • Positive test
    • Increased translation in the affected arm
