Purpose
- To evaluate for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome as a cause of neck or shoulder pain
Description
- The patient is sitting or standing.
- Examiner continuously palpates the radial pulse on the side being tested.
- Examiner abducts the arm to 45°, extends shoulder to 45°,
- Externally rotates the upper extremity while applying a downward distraction to the arm.
- Patient is then asked to fully turn head away from the side being tested, extend the cervical spin
- Positive Test
- Reproduction of the patients symptoms

- Sensitivity: 74-76%
- Specificty: 52-62%
- Diagnostic Accuracy: 67-72%
