- Consists of two partially united layers
- Anterior lamina: talocalcaneonavicular joint
- Posterior lamina: talocalcaneal joint
Gross Anatomy
- Superior attachments: articular facets under the talus
- Inferior attachment: corresponding depressions on the calcanus
- Thick, strong, 2.5 cm in width
Function
- Binds the calcaneus and talus firmly
- Supports the subtalar joint, sinus tarsi
