Lateral Ulnar Collateral Ligament

From WikiSM

Description

The lateral collateral ligament complex. The lateral collateral ligament complex consists of the lateral ulnar collateral ligament (LUCL), radial collateral ligament (RCL), and annular ligament. The LUCL runs from the lateral epicondyle and inserts on the supinator crest of the ulna and is the most important stabilizer against varus instability.[1]

  • Origin
    • Humeral origin is posteroinferior aspect of the lateral epicondyle
    • Just posterior to the origin of the radial collateral ligament
  • Insertion
    • Distal insertion at the proximal part of the supinator crest
    • Close relationship to the posterior attachment of the annular ligament
