Lateral Ulnar Collateral Ligament
(Redirected from Lateral ulnar collateral ligament)
Description

Names
- Lateral Ulnar Collateral Ligament
- lateral ulnar collateral ligament (LUCL) of the elbow
- LUCL
- Lateral ulnar ligament
- Ligamentum collaterale ulnare laterale
Introduction
- Primary stabilizer of the elbow joint to varus stress
- Part of the Lateral Collateral Ligament Complex of the Elbow
Gross Anatomy
- Located at the posterolateral aspect of the elbow joint
- Courses immediately posterior to the radial collateral ligament
- Further distal and posterior to the radial head
- Blends with fibers of the annular ligament, runs further to the proximal ulna
Function
- Static stabilizer of the elbow joint[4]
- Primary restraint to varus force external rotatory stress
Attachments
- Origin
- Humeral origin is posteroinferior aspect of the lateral epicondyle
- Just posterior to the origin of the radial collateral ligament
- Insertion
- Distal insertion at the proximal part of the supinator crest
- Close relationship to the posterior attachment of the annular ligament
Clinical Significance
- Lateral Epicondylitis
- Lateral Collateral Ligament Injury (Elbow)
- Posterolateral Rotatory Instability
- Varus instability
