Plamaris brevis muscle[1]

Name

  • Palmaris Brevis
  • Palmaris Brevis Muscle

General

  • Small quadrangular muscle found in the hypothenar region of the hand
  • Lies over the fascia of the hypothenar eminence, but does not belong to it

Origin

Insertion

  • Skin of the medial border of the hand

Actions

  • Improves palmer grip
  • Pulls the skin over the hypothenar eminence, deepens the palm

Vascular Supply

  • Superficial palmar arch

Innervation


Clinical Significance

  • Only motor innervation of the superficial branch of the ulnar nerve[2]
