Purpose
- Evaluate the tibialis posterior tendon as a cause of heel or ankle pain
Description
- The patient is prone
- Grasp the calcaneus to invert the subtalar joint, dorsiflex the ankle
- Using the other hand, place fingers on the navicular and base of metatarsal 2/3
- Apply a dorsiflexion force with the fingertips
- Evaluate for
- Quality of end range of motion
- Compare to unaffected limb
- Patient describes pain during exam
