Seated Straight Leg Raise Test

Purpose

  • To help evaluate the cause of the patients back pain

Description

  • The patient is seated
  • Knees bent to 90°, hanging off the side of the examination table
  • Examiner slowly extends knee to 180°
  • Positive test
    • Reproduction of the patients pain at or approaching full extension
