- Intermediate layer of back muscles
- Includes both serratus posterior inferior and superior
- Superior muscle group is cervical/thoracic
- Inferior muscle group is thoracic/lumbar

- Ventral rami of Intercostal Nerves
Function
- Accessory muscles of respiration
- Unilateral: rotates spine to opposite side
- Bilateral: reduces extension of the thoracic vertebrae
