Demonstration of the stutter test[1]
- Plica Stutter Test
Purpose
- Evaluate the Plicae as a cause of knee pain
Description
- The patient is seated with affected leg flexed to 90°[2]
- Examiner places hand on the center of the patella
- Patient then actively extends knee while observing patellar movement
- Positive Test
- Patella 'stutters' or jumps during course of movement
- Typically occurs around 45-70°
- Crepitus may also be appreciated
