Purpose

  • A finding sometimes associated with peripheral nerve compression syndromes
  • Origiginally described by French physician François Louis Isidore Valleix (need citation)
  • Not widely discussed in the literature

Description

  • For a given peripheral nerve along its path:
    • Localized tenderness
    • Radiating proximally from the site of compression
  • Suggestive of a perihpheral nerve entraptment

Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Tenderness at the tarsal tunnel
  • Pain radiating proximally up the leg
