Name

  • Bursa of the Hip
  • Hip bursae

General

  • Synovial fluid-filled sacs in the hip region
  • Objective is to facilitate movement and reduce friction between muscles/tendons and bone
  • Can be communicating or non-communicating with the hip joint
  • Most are not seen on imaging unless pathologic or distended

Iliopsoas Bursa

Greater Trochanteric Bursa

Ischiogluteal Bursa
