Name
- Coracoacromial Ligament
- Ligamentum Coracoacromiale
General
- Strong triangular ligament of the glenohumeral joint complex
- Connects the coracoid process to the apex of the acromion of the scapula
- Forms a strong arch above the head of the humerus, preventing superior displacement
Gross Anatomy
- Origin: medial border of the acromion
- Insertion: lateral border of the coracoid process
- Overlies the subacromial bursa
Function
- Forms coracoacromial arch
- Prevents superior displacement of humeral head
- Formed from anterior to posterior: coracoid process, coracoacromial ligament, acromion
- Structures within arch: subacromial bursa, supraspinatus tendon, long head of biceps tendon
