Description

  • Coracoacromial Ligament
  • Ligamentum Coracoacromiale

General

  • Strong triangular ligament of the glenohumeral joint complex
  • Connects the coracoid process to the apex of the acromion of the scapula
  • Forms a strong arch above the head of the humerus, preventing superior displacement

Gross Anatomy

  • Origin: medial border of the acromion
  • Insertion: lateral border of the coracoid process
  • Overlies the subacromial bursa

Function

  • Forms coracoacromial arch
  • Prevents superior displacement of humeral head
