Gross anatomy

• Covered superficially by superficial posterior tibiotalar ligament, tibiocalcaneal ligament
• Broad and thick ligament which connects the [[medial malleolus to the talus

Attachments

• Origin: near distal center of intercollicular groove of the medial malleolus
• Insertion: beneath and superior to insertion of the superficial posterior tibiotalar ligament on the medial talar body
