- Extends digits 1-4 of foot at the metatarsophalangeal joint

- Some anatomists think it is part of the Extensor Hallucis Brevis muscle
Origin
- Calcaneus (in front of the groove for the peroneus brevis tendon)
- Interosseous talocalcaneal ligament
- Stem of the inferior extensor retinaculum
Insertion
- Digit 1: Dorsal surface of the base of the proximal phalanx
- Digits 2-4: Lateral side of the tendon of the Extensor Digitorum Longus
Actions
- Extends digits 1-4 of foot at the metatarsophalangeal joint
- Extends digits 2-4 at the interphalangeal joint
Vascular Supply
- Branches of Dorsalis Pedis Artery
Innervation
- Lateral terminal branch of Deep Peroneal Nerve
