Name

  • Medial Cutaneous Nerve of Arm
  • Medial brachial cutaneous nerve
  • Lesser internal cutaneous nerve
  • Nerve of Wrisberg

General

  • Sensory branch originating from the medial cord of the brachial plexus and roots C8-T1
  • Provides sensory innervation of the medial arm
  • Descends the extremity accompanied by the basilic vein

Gross Anatomy

  • Smallest and most medial branch of the brachial plexus
  • Passes through the axilla
  • Initially behind and then medial to axillary vein
  • Communicates with intercostalbrachial nerve
  • Descends medial to brachial artery
  • Pierces the deep fascia
  • Innervates with the posterior lower third of the arm down to the elbow
  • Communicates with the medial cutaneous nerve of arm
