Purpose

• Evaluate cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine for nerve root compression

Description

• Patient is seated or laying supine, examiner is behind patient
• Examiner applies pressure to bilateral jugular veins for approximately 30 seconds
• Examiner asks patient to cough
• Positive test
  • Reproduction of pain along the same distribution
