Purpose
- Used to assess shoulder protraction due to pec minor shortening
Description
- The patient is supine
- Measure: linear distance from the treatment table to the posterior aspect of the acromion is measured
- Measurement: assess the resting length of the pectoralis minor muscle
- Measure 3 times and take an average
- Positive Test
- Distance measured is 2.6 cm or greater
- Normal: ≤ 2.6 cm
Pathology
- Shoulder Impingement
- Scapular Dyskinesis
- Pectoralis minor tightness/contracture
- Anterior tilting of the scapula
- Protracted (rounded) shoulder posture
