Push Pull Test

Purpose

  • Evaluate the posterior glenoid labrum as a cause of the patients shoulder pain

Description

  • The patient is supine
  • Abduct the arm to 90 degrees, flex to 30 slightly anterior to the scapular pain
  • Stabilize the elbow/forearm with one hand
  • Place the other hand on the humeral head
  • Apply a posterior directed force through the long axis of the humerus
  • Positive test
    • Reproduction of the patients symptoms
