Name

• Rhomboid Major
• Musculus rhomboideus major

General

• Extrinsic muscle of the shoulder, located deep to trapezius
• Part of the Rhomboid Muscle Group

Origin

• Spinous processes of the T2-T5 vertebra

Insertion

• Medial border of the Scapula, just inferior to the rhomboid minor

Actions

• Retracts scapula, rotates it to depress the glenoid cavity
• Fixes the scapula to the thoracic wall
• In conjunction with the Rhomboid Minor

Vascular Supply

• Dorsal Scapular Artery

Innervation

• Dorsal Scapular Nerve
