  • Big swing muscle

  • Fan shaped muscle on the thorax which aids in scapular movement

Origin

  • Outer surface of the Ribs 1 - 9/9

Insertion

  • Costal aspect of medial margin of Scapula

Actions

  • Protracts, stabilizes scapula
  • Assists in upward rotation

Vascular Supply

  • Lateral Thoracic Artery
  • Superior Thoracic Artery (upper part)
  • Thoracodorsal Artery (lower part)
