Capitotrapezoid Ligament
(Redirected from Trapezoideocapitate Interosseous Ligament)
Description

Name
- Capitotrapezoid Ligament
- Trapezoideocapitate Interosseous
- Ligamenttrapezocapitate ligament
- Trapezoid-capitate Ligament
General
- Stabilizes the joint between the capitate and trapezoid
- Component of distal interosseous ligaments of the wrist[2]
- Helps maintain the distal carpal row
- Contributes to stability of the Scaphotrapeziotrapezoidal Joint
Gross Anatomy
- Has volar, dorsal and interosseous components[3]
- Volar/dorsal portion spans almost the entire length of the joint edges on the trapezoid side, inserts into the body of the capitate
- Interosseous portion runs obliquely between the surfaces of the two bones
MRI Features
- Best viewed on axial and coronal planes[4]
- More easily visualized with MR arthrography
Clinical Significance
- Needs to be updated
