General

Gross Anatomy

  • Has volar, dorsal and interosseous components[3]
  • Volar/dorsal portion spans almost the entire length of the joint edges on the trapezoid side, inserts into the body of the capitate
  • Interosseous portion runs obliquely between the surfaces of the two bones

MRI Features

  • Best viewed on axial and coronal planes[4]
  • More easily visualized with MR arthrography
