Articularis Genus
Introduction

General
- Also called the subcrureus muscle
- Small skeletal muscle in the thigh, just above the knee
- Pulls the suprapatellar bursa during extension of the knee, preventing impingement
- Can be attached to the medial patellar plica
Origin

- Pulls suprapatellar bursa superiorly during knee extension (prevents impingement of synovial membrane between patella and femur)
Anatomic Variants
- Sometimes consists of several separate muscle bundles
- The muscle is without a distinct fascia
