Gross Anatomy

Attachments

  • Origin: distal dorsolateral surface of the anterior process of the calcaneus
  • Insertion: proximal, lateral surface of the cuboid bone

Variant Anatomy

  • Many common variants including
  • Different directions
  • Multiple bundles (accessory lateral band in up to 60% of people)[2]
  • Merging with the calcaneocuboid bundle of the bifurcate ligament[3]
  • Meniscus variant
