General
- Joint formed by articulation between calcaneus, cuboid
- Synovial saddle type articulation
- Important part of the chopart joint (along with the Talonavicular Joint)
Gross Anatomy
- Anterior surface of the calcaneus
- Posterior surface of the cuboid
- Joint capsule is is thickened superiorly, inferiorly[4]
- Modified saddle-type joint
- Minimal movement occurs
Ligaments
- Calcaneocuboid part of the Bifurcate Ligament
- Dorsal calcaneocuboid ligament
- Long plantar ligament
- Plantar calcaneocuboid ligament (short plantar ligament)
Innervation
- Plantar: Deep Fibular Nerve
- Dorsal: Sural Nerve
Movement
- Commonly termed the least mobile joint of the foot
- Cuboid can rotate as much as 25 degrees about an oblique axis during inversion and eversion[5]
- Also known as obvolution-involuation
