Infrahyoid neck muscles including Omohyoid, Sternohyoid, Sternothyroid, and Thyrohyoid
The 8 extrinsic muscles of the larynx[1]

Name

  • Thyrohyoid
  • Musculus thyrohyoideus
  • Musculus thyreohyoideus

General

Gross Anatomy

  • Origin: Oblique line of thyroid cartilage
  • Insertion: Inferior border of body and greater horn of hyoid bone

Action

  • Depresses hyoid bone
  • Elevates larynx

Innervation

Vascular Supply

  • Branches of:
    • Lingual arteries
    • Superior thyroid arteries

Clinical Significance
