Origin
- Lateral proximal tibia
- Tibial condyle
- Interosseous Ligament of the Leg
- Superficial crural fascia
Insertion
- Medial surface of medial cuneiform
- 1st metatarsal
Actions
- Dorsiflexion of ankle Joint
- Inversion of subtalar joint
Vascular Supply
- Anterior tibial artery
Innervation
Bursa of Tibialis Anterior
- Three bursa have been described[3]
- One between the tendon and the cuneometatarsal joint
- One lies between the tendon and the first cuneiform
- One is superficial, located between the tendon and the overlying extensor retinaculum
Clinical Significance
Pathology
- Acute Compartment Syndrome
- Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome
- Tibialis Anterior Tenosynovitis
