General

• There are medial, intermediate and lateral cuneiform bones
• They are wedge-shaped and add structure to the medial column of the foot
• Some of the tarsal bones of the foot

Articulations

• Navicular proximally
• Cuboid laterally
• 1st to 3rd Metatarsal distally
• Helps support the midfoot and lisfranc joint

Medial cuneiform

• Attachment site for Peroneus Longus on plantar surface
• Attachment site for Tibialis Anterior on medial surface
• The Lisfranc Ligament Extends from medial cuneiform to the base of the second metatarsal

Intermediate cuneiform

• Attachment site for multiple ligaments
• Attachment for Tibialis Posterior tendon

Lateral cuneiform

• Attachment site for multiple ligaments
• Attachment for Tibialis Posterior tendon
• Origin of Adductor Hallucis, Flexor Hallucis Brevis

Vascular Supply

• Dorsal Aterial Network including
  • Lateral tarsal artery, a branch of the dorsalis pedis
  • Middle pedicle branch of the dorsalis pedis
  • Medial plantar and superficial medial plantar arteries

Innervation

• Branches of the
  • Deep Fibular Nerve
  • Lateral Plantar Nerve
  • Medial Plantar Nerve
