General
- Belongs to the medial supporting structures of the ankle joint
- Considered one of the four superficial components of the deltoid ligament
Gross Anatomy
- Located superficial to Deep Anterior Tibiotalar Ligament
- Superficial to trochlea of talus
- Runs in a fan-like fashion to the navicular[2]
- Increased tension with plantarflexion, abduction[3]
Attachments
- Origin: anterior colliculus of medial malleolus, just above distal insertion of spring ligament
- Insert: anterior to the articular surface of the talonavicular joint
