Ulnocarpal Ligament Complex

Description

Anatomic relationship between ECU sheath floor, prestyloid recess, and triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC), which comprises ulnocarpal ligamentous complex (UCLC), disk, and palmar and dorsal radioulnar (RU) ligaments.

Gross Anatomy

• All three ligaments originate at the fovea of the ulnar head, base of the ulnar styloid
• Extend in a fan-like distribution to insert on the palmer aspect of the triquetrum, capitate and lunate
• These ligaments merge firmly with the Palmer Radioulnar Ligament
• The ligaments are often confluent and indistinguishable from each other

Function

• Contributes to coordination of the distal radioulnar joint, ulnocarpal joint
• Prevent dorsal migration of ulna
