- Flexion of the thigh at the hip joint
- Allows movements such as:
- Walking

- Climbing stairs

- Iliopsoas provides the strongest hip flexion
- Contributes to pelvic stabilization during gait
- Assists with postural control of the trunk and pelvis
Innervation
- Primarily supplied by nerves from the Lumbar Plexus
- Individual muscle innervation
- Psoas major: L1–L3 ventral rami
- Iliacus: Femoral Nerve
- Rectus femoris: Femoral Nerve
- Sartorius: Femoral Nerve
- Tensor fasciae latae: Superior Gluteal Nerve
- Pectineus: Femoral Nerve
