Description


General
- Cuneonavicular Joint connects the navicular with the 3 cuneiform bones
- Plays a pivotal role in maintaining body balance, facilitating locomotion
Movement
- Joint displays slight gliding and rotatory movements
- Mobility depends on interaction of fibularis longus and fibularis brevis, tibialis anterior and tibialis posterior
- The stretched flexors and extensors in the toes also contribute to movement
Ligaments
- Dorsal and plantar ligament: contribute to 3 transverse bands stretched across the medial, lateral cuneiform and cuboid
- Interosseous ligaments: found in the non-articular regions
