- Dorsal Midcarpal Ligaments
General
- One of the extrinsic wrist ligaments
- Component of the Dorsal Carpal Ligaments
Gross Anatomy
- Horizontal orientation
- Runs from the dorsal tubercle of the triquetrum to the dorsal groove of the scaphoid
- Also has attachments to the lunate
- In 50% of individuals, it also attaches to the trapezium, capitate
- Forms the floor of the fourth and fifth dorsal extensor compartments
Dorsal Scaphotriquetral Ligament
- Not widely agreed upon as a discrete or distinct anatomic ligament
- Considered a thickened part of the dorsal intercarpal ligament
- Extends between the dorsal aspects of the scaphoid and triquetrum
Function
- Provide stability to the carpal bones, especially the intercarpal joints
- In particular, it contributes to scapholunate stability
